Moss

IRISH CHAMPION DALREGIS SHOOTING STAR OF CHANDHALLY

Moss was a mating of HK Ch Dalrannoch Citizen Kane to Chandhally(imp) and Dalregis La Serenata.

           Moss’s      Mum             and                    Dad

Moss was born 3rd March 1997, again one of 10. A beautiful liver bitch.

Moss at 4 months                      Moss at 3 weeks

Bred by Mrs Pat Wilson of the well known Dalregis affix  mhxh61@dsl.pipex.com She was a stubborn unruly creature from day one. As soon as she moved in to the house trouble started. Doors chewed, hanging baskets off the walls, pots and flower beds attacked !!! Digging to Australia given half a chance and I think that comes from her Australien father- not interested in people or obedience training. DESTRUCTION that was her aim in life. The other two dogs were beside themselves. They certainly took their turn in “training” Moss.Especially her father Duke who really had it in for her at times.

Moss finally came around to normal behavior and we soon discovered what a smart dog she is. She doesn’t need a lead when we go for walks, she walks to heel and will stay close when told. Where did she learn that? I have no idea. But it makes life really easy when you take 4 Dalmatians for a walk. She never touches things that isn’t allowed. Will jump up and down like a kangaroo in excitement but that is as far as it goes.

     3 generations 4 dogs

Moss has been a wonderful show dog too. Just very unlucky in being in the ring at the same time as the top winning Dalmatian of all time.Moss gained her stud book number at an early age, and was consistently placed at all levels and was on a number of occasions considered for the top honours.Moss did however do extremely well in Ireland. Again with BOB’s, RBOB’s Green stars, Reserve Green Stars, number of groups too. C.A.C.I.B’s again with excellent standard.

Moss was mated during one of our Ireland trips, in August 2000 to UK Champion, Irish Champion & International Champion Truthful Tango at Kilndandy.

She gave birth to 2 puppies and then went back to sleep. An emergency caesarean followed, with 9 more puppies.Sadly one little baby died after 1 week of hard work. Moss had 4 black & white, and 6 liver & white puppies.

Moss was a fantastic mother and looked after her brood like a proper hen. She had so much milk that the puppies looked like seriously over-stuffed puddings. Talking about ROLLY POLLY’s. Moss kept them “spotless” - well she would have washed off the spots if she could.

Moss and her babies                      Yeah, we know we are lovely

Both parents have passed on their excellent temperament and conformation. Sound in mind and spirit, with strong bones and bodies.

All puppies were B.A.E.R tested , 9 Normal / 1 unilateral .They had a health check and were given their 1st vaccination before they left for their new homes.

Well - they didn’t ALL leave. We just couldn’t let Sky and Tiger go. With Their attitude! They just had to linger on. Oh joy. That was madness. 2 puppies and 3 adults. Never again. Talking about mayhem. We finally settled for Sky, and Tiger finally left for her new home, running along the beach is much better than being dragged around dog shows.

Even I agree with that.

14 weeks after Moss gave birth to her puppies she attended Manchester Ch Show and got 3rd in open bitch. You just wouldn’t know she had had a litter. Even the judge was amazed.

( Doug MacKenzie’s comments were - She was in such good hard condition!)

We had such a fantastic time with Moss and her litter and after a super year in the show ring we decided on another litter. So we had her mated this time to Konavlje Spot Boris and had a litter of 6. But sadly another Caesarean and also her last litter. We lost a pup after 1 week.

4 boys and 1 girl. What a joy they were. So easy to look after. Happy  and content. Again the milky bar was over flowing. Both parents have passed on their super temperaments and the dogs are all well behaved, so I am informed.

Moss feeding her puppies              Walking through the jungle..

The puppies had a field day with 3 adult bitches and a Male to pester, they soon learned who to respect and which they could misbehave around. That was always SKY.

All the puppies were B.A.E.R tested Normal, vaccinated and received a full health check before they went to their new homes.

Moss is now a veteran and enjoying “semi “retirement from the ring. She still seems to get a kick from going to dog shows and has a few favorite boys that she likes to ”play” with. She is a very active dog when she wants to be, and these days is the one who initiates the plays. Moss seems to have realized that chasing around can actually be fun and will run for the tug-a rope a few times. Mostly she will play tug with Sky and always finishes the game with a “told you I’m still up for it” and then crashes out on the lawn or in her bed.

She is a most fun loving dog and loves nothing better than to sleep in the sun. (If we had any) - running around the forest , swim in the sea or the river.

Moss is still a devoted mother and is always washing and cleaning Sky. They are inseparable. Where one goes, the other follows. At night time you will always find them snuggled up together. It is truly a loving relationship. But as a Granny, well there is another story. Get those kids off me!!! I have done my bit for the reproduction.

             Sky’s A litter                             Sky’s B litter and Moss

Moss was very good with Sky’s puppies but she opted to stay as far away from them as possible when they were charging around. We had so many funny episodes. I would have loved to write a book about it. Just like any “normal” family. It was bliss when they all crashed out. Then Moss wanted to play with them and got upset when they wouldn’t move.

Moss took over the care and teaching of Pia - CHANDHALLY SNOW QUEEN - her grand daughter. If Pia miss behaved Moss would go and give her a telling off and yet again if Pia has had a “rough” time with her mother ,Sky .Moss will be there to comfort her. Just like any other grand parent  Moss is very proud and protective of her grand child.Even now after Pia and Moss snuggles up most night.

But the story does not stop there, as her grand child Pia -Chandhally Snow Queen had her first litter in November 2007 to French Champion Troilous De Puech Barrayre and we kept a super little boy. Hall- Chandhally Cuvee  Du President.Great Grand Mother -Moss  was not amused. She had no time for him at all but as tradition goes here in this household-she could not keep this up for long. Hall would slowly put his bottom in her bed and gently work his way in with her .Well Moss gave up after that and is now happily telling him off and yet again cleaning the spots of him. Poor dog. Typical male- does not like all this washing and cleaning, but he loves being spoilt. He goes to Mummy-Pia just to get away from Great Granny Moss
