Sky

Sky at around 5 weeks

Sky  age - 5 1/2 years old

    Irish & International Champion

 CHANDHALLY  CHANTILLY LACE

SKY is a true character. There’s never a dull moment with her in this house. Her hearing is BAER tested normal. She has had and still has a super show career, both at Championship and Open Shows though she is now Semi Retired as she is 7 1/2 years old and has now entered the Veterans

Sky was born on 26th October 2000 to Irish Champion Dalregis Shooting Star of Chandhally and UK Champion / Irish Champion & International Champion Truthful Tango at Kilndandy.

Sky’s Dad  Toby                                Sky’s Mum  Moss

Sky was one of 11 puppies. We had 2 very nice bitches in the litter so we kept them both for a short time but finally desided Sky was the one for us

Sky at 3 weeks               Sky winning puppy bitch at South Wales Ch show

Sky soon learned that she could get away with everything if she SMILED at us and finished it with roling on her back - feet straight up in the air - No matter what she did wrong we would get this smile that lit up her eyes too. How could we tell her off when all you get is this grin? We just didn’t have the heart to do so. You name it, she did it and she had a tremendous teacher in Ida (HK Champion Dalregis Celeste Aida to Chandhally)

Nothing was safe in the house or garden. Now you see it - now you don’t and it is still the case 5 years down the line.

But she grew up fast and started to get the message from the other two dogs. Duke (HK Champion Dalrannoch Citizen Kane to Chandhally) and her mum Irish Champion Dalregis Shooting Star of Chandhally soon taught her that we do not behave this way.

Sky does not know what stop is or what brakes are. Sky has the tendency to just charge when she runs: straight up the hill, then full tilt back down again. It is not a question of going around objects - it’s going through them! This has resulted in us getting knocked over, Sky getting her head scalped as she didn’t duck, crashing through trees and bushes and get hurt the latter resulting in a serious injury to her hip and stifle( knee) and is now undergoing Hydro Theraphy. So have look at the health issue topics.

Sky loves knocking the other dogs down. She just does not know when to stop. It’s never ending. Sky also has a tendency to “serious selective hearing”. If she decides to charge around in the forest nothing will stop her, she will come when she feels like it.(well extremely fast return when she knows there are doggy biscuits in the pocket) SKY has been BAER tested NORMAL, but like any good Dalmatian she has her own mind and serious selective hearing.

Sky has done us very proud in the show ring, being consistently placed on all levels, with wins at Minor puppy, Puppy, Junior, Post Graduate & Limit,Sky is now in Open Bitch class, competing with a number of Champion.A real challenge for us.

These are the major winns for Sky  here in UK:

RBPIS at the BDC Ch show in 2001: Judge was Mrs. A Dandy,

RBCC at The Northern Ireland Dalmatian club 2003: Judge Mrs K. Goff-Leggett

BCC  and BOB at Border Union Ch.Show june 2004.The judge was Lady Macdonald of Sleat

RBCC at Blackpool Ch Show 2007.Judge was Mrs C McVicar

Sky  has also won a number of Green Stars (BCC ) & Reserve Green Stars & CACIB & RCACIB in Ireland

Cert ( BCC )   RCACIB’s  and CACIB’s in Scandinavia,

Cert’s ( BCC )  and CACIB’s with BOB and Group Placings and a RBIS in Holland and Belgium 2006 all at International Ch Shows.

Sky  gave Ida (HK Champion Dalregis Celeste Aida to Chandhally) an extra two years of living. Ida was given only months to live when we decided to keep Sky. It was a wonderful decision. Ida bloomed and really enjoyed this bundle of joy. Sky had the best teacher, as Ida was confident and happy around everybody. Sky in turn has turned out to be the most loving Dalmatian we have ever had. Always ready with her smiles and waggy tail.

Sky is still very close to her mum-Moss- and they are always together.Though Sky has a daughter -Pia whom she adores-it is nothing like your own mum.

Sky was mated in 2002 to Deovolante Don Alfonzo. The puppies, 12 of them 6 dogs and 6 bitches  were born 03 / 01 /2003. Two of the puppies are now in the show ring and doing very well for themselves. Follow their success in SKY’s winning offspring.         Harvey - Chandhally bucks Fizz

             Lara- Chandhally Phoenix for Dalregis

We didn’t keep a puppy out of this mating, which was our intention but instead ended up passing our puppy, Lara, on to my dearest friend (and big sister),Mrs P Wilson - current chair man of the Britidh Dalmatian Club who sadly lost her very old dog and needed something to keep her old Dalmatian going (which was Moss’s Mum -Dalregis Cressida )and getting herself back in to the show ring.

Sky was mated 2 years later to her fancy boy “Dudley” Champion Washakie Chief As Great As J.W. Winner of over 20 CC’S and almost as many Best of Breeds- DUDLEY was awarded the DCC at Crufts 2004.

Sky had 13 puppies 7 dogs and 6 bitches and they were born 22 / 12 / 2004 but sadly we lost 4. We had 9 super puppies and yes.. one stayed this time.Pia the wild one.Sky adores Pia but there are times when mum has had enough.I do not blame her.Pia is still full go and no stop 1 year down the line. They are equally bad.Where 1 starts the other finishes. So yes we are still digging to Australia and finding things to chew.Oh well. What can you do as we now have 2 dogs that greets you with a set of teeth and wagging tails.??

We are delighted that 4 of their offspring is now in the ring and doing rather well for themselves. You can follow their fun times at various shows by clicking on to the link below.

Dudley’s and Sky’s pedigree have a lot in common (line breeding)Which means they have common ancestersNot only that, but they also share excellent  temperaments, conformation and movements, beautiful and even markings and fantastic pigments. They are both very sound in body and mind. What more can a breeder ask?
