Solo

                               COUNTRY POINT OF CHANDHALLY

                                                     Solo was born 15 / 08 / 1989 in Northern Ireland.

Solo’s dad: Delvallie Golden Prince of Dalandus          Solo’s mum: Gelsha Jade

A lovely bright eyed liver dog with beagle ears and legs that seemed to go on for ever.

He was always running around playing with Vicky and her friends. He loved all the attention he got from people coming to the park where we walked. His favourite play mate was a Harlequin Great Dane and they were quite a sight, some thinking Solo was the Great Danes puppy.Well we have all heard that joke.A super companion for Victoria and us.He never liked to be left out of anything and “insisted” that where we were he was.Preferably in the middle of it

Solo being our first Dalmatian was such a relaxed dog.Very friendly and outgoing, and loved absolutely every one. Looking back over the years living with all the other Dalmatians I am wondering if Solo was really a Dalmatian!! He never did any damage around house or garden. He never chewed or snatched, never jumped up, never ran away and certainly did not have selective hearing. He only stole food once when he was a puppy and that was a big bowl of salted popcorn. He was rather unwell afterwards but that was all.

Solo and some serious  Bling ware  // (Silverware)

As Solo grew up and starting to come into some shape I decided it could be fun to go to a Dog Show with him. So we entered him at Birmingham Kennel Associations Open Show on 3rd March 1990.

We were over the moon with a VHC ( very highly commended) in Minor puppy and a 3rd in Puppy class.

We had joined the North of England Dalmatian Club and their Open Show was a few weeks later. The judge was Mrs S. Ridgeway and Solo was entered in minor puppy dog, puppy dog and junior dog, and maiden dog. Well what can I say: the results were a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd and another 1st. We were hooked, over the moon and totally shocked. Two  trophies to take home as well as winning one of the main raffle prices of the day.We promptly put up a shelf in the hallway and put the TWO most important tropies up- to show off to friends. This soon became a joke amongst our doggy friends as the shelf filled up with more prices--but they had to be returned the following year..Yeah,, It left an almost empty shelf at one stage..but what fun we had.

We had our ups and downs but Solo managed to collect a fair amount of first placings, RBPIS’s, many BOB and a few groups and more trophies as he grew up.

Victoria, Ida and Solo                                         Solo and Ida having a quiet time.

In july 1991 Solo’s quiet life was forever ruined..Ida came into his life, and what a life it turned out to be fro the two of them.Ida did everything that Solo had never done. But he loved her so much and would not be seperated from her.Where Ida went Solo went.Poor fellow. He took so much of the blame but we knew --If Sole didn’t come to the door and great us we knew Ida had been up to something.

Solo was a smashing dog to have around. He never had a “bad” word to say to anybody and that included ida who would at times torment him A stunning liver spotted male..To get another like him would be the greates wish ever..

Sadly he died at a very young age, at just over 3 years old from Crohnes disease in late 1991. He was never used at stud.
